Dear Naheed,

The following method may be suitable for sumatriptane. The only change you should make is to replace "Levocetrizine Dihydrochloride" with "sumatriptane".

Preparation of Drug-Resin Complex:

1- First of all distilled water was added in beaker and

then added slowly Kyron T-134 added under

continous stirring into the vortex taking precaution to

avoid lump formation and allowed it to swell for 2

hour.

2- Levocetrizine Dihydrochloride was added slowly

under continous stirring to above resin solution.

 Stirring was continued for 3 hours and allow it for 24

hours.

3- The solution was filtered by using whatmann filter

paper no 41.Residue/slurry was taken out and put it

for drying at 60 C for 3-4 hours in oven.

4- The dry powder is the Drug –Resin complex (DRC).

Well as sir said is the technique you can use.

But you can also try simple addition of the resin into the drug solution at a particular temp, binding properties will depend on the charge/functional group of the drug and the resin you selected. Please verify whether the drug resinate has been established by TLC or any other method.
