Recently I came across a Hyphydrus specimen from Slovakia, which I at first glance thought would be H. ovatus. Nevertheless there seem to be some discrepancies, mainly a distinct central suture on each elytra (similar to H. aubei), which doesnt fit to the H. ovatus characteristics, despite similar appearence (overall reddish colour, with no distinct colour patterns). Could it be H. anatolicus maybe?

Your specimen belongs to the species Hyphydrus ovatus Linnaeus, 1761 (Coleoptera: Dytiscidae). H. aubei has the elytra light brown with black irregular spots. H. ovatus has the central submarginal suture more visible on reddish specimens.

Almost certainly it is Hyphydrus ovatus (Linnaeus, 1761), but it is hard and speculative to make any conclusions on base of this poor quality photograph.
I am not able to identify this species. I do not specialise in this field.
