I am undertaking a thematic/narrative analysis of existing literature on a particular topic which has multiple sub themes.

I have 1200 articles, most with full text pdf attachments in endnote.  I have been using endnote search facilities to categorise my articles into sub themes. The reliability of using the search function in endnote is that when I categorise the results into a group, I find that the different search strategies I have used result in poor sensitivity in results - many articles contain a key word, but this does not mean it is a key focus of the paper.

The area I'm looking at is relatively new (synthetic cannabinoids) so the nomenclature being used is less well established than other areas.

I'm currently trialling quiqqa software which may be some assistance, but determining the themes for articles remains an issue.

Has anyone used software for thematic analysis of abstracts and papers or know of any application that may help?

Thanks

Richard
