I need to prove that after applying image processing technique to image provides good solution and i need to do some coastal mapping to compare original and result image by coastal mapping output. Which mapping can be performed other than shoreline detection?
You compare the results of the coastal area land cover classifications using the original satellite images and those applied image processing technique. You see the differences.
You can use a technique for identifying coastal changes. Look at my publication. I use this technique to identify geomorphological changes: "Análisis de las variaciones geomorfológicas ocurridas en la desembocadura del Delta del Ebro mediante el empleo de técnicas de teledetección de cambios (periodo 1957-2009).
The mapping you can do depend of the type of sensor you plane to use it.
Does it optical or radar ?
Do you need a particular résolution for your application ?
What you wan't to characterize ?
What, exactly, are you trying to map? And at what resolution. Without this info, not much can be said.
There is no specific image processing technique for coastal mapping. It all depends which features are of your interest.
