Hello,

I'm trying the EDC/NHS method to link APTES on partial hydrolized-PLA nanofibers. I cannot use water as a solvent because PLA is hydrophobic and has a poor wettability. Instead I use absolute ethanol which penetrate easily through the mesh.

I'm not sure the reaction is working and I wonder if it's because of the pH. I'm aware that the EDC/NHS activation works at pH=4.5-6 and the amine linkation at pH=7-8. I'm trying to adjust the pH using pH paper but I don't if I can trust it. How can be measured the pH of a non-aqueous medium?

On the other hand I'm using concentrations 0,1M/0,02M EDC/NHS because I heard this ratio is more effective.

Some advise?

Thank you
