Quality of research via number of citations, patents and grants; Editorial responsibilities; quality of graduates supervised assessed through work place.
Measuring productivity of academician at private higher education - When less student failed or no student failed under lecturer supervision, the student/postgraduate work or have job right after completing the study and lecturer is their major referee to get into job.
Academician themselves - in need of continue their study. It is unethical to teach academic for 10 years in line and the academician still stuck with her/his current qualification eg: degree. In need to continue Master or if he/she got master then probably pursuing the PhD or post doctoral study.
To produce high-impact student both with exceptional ethical behaviour with qualification which equally crucial when entering the job market.
I dare add that the environment where one conducts his work plays a major role. Take for example, a number of academic institutions rely on their Promotion guidelines which has been in existence since the inception of the institution; without undergoing much of review and changes based on current realities. While elsewhere, points raised by Abdulmojeed Yakubu are given major consideration.
Academic productivity is measured through active participation in community development services, quality lecture delivered, problem solving ability, quality contributions in board meetings , publications in h-index or SCl journals, and supervisory ability.
