I am investigating the venture capitalist investment process and the factors which effect the environment of venture capital industry. I am unable to found any close ended questionnaire as data can be easily collected with this form.
LITERATURE: The questionnaire generally is formulated after literature review. Attached are three good articles that may give a good foundation on this research topic. Once you select the factors from the literature, you may then identify your Y (dependent variable) and X(independent variable). From these identified variables, you then start writing questions. The literature review should provide you with a conceptual model from which you could use as a guide to formulate questions. As you formulate the questions, you would be asking what type of data would you like to collect: quantitative, ordinal, or nominal data. At this point, you would have an idea for constructing a model.
PROCESS & FACTORS: These two terms are different issues in the research. While the process for VC is very much standard procedures that all VC firms and deal presenters go through, the factors are not the same because each VC firm has its own financing criteria: (i) industry, (ii) stages of financing, etc. Nevertheless a general statement may be made--see below.
Information on process may be obtained through literature review. Some research has been on factors contributing to successful VC fund raising. See article by Pattersson, attached.
