I did a reaction, basically it is the thiol-Michael Addition where I tried to conjugate a -SH group to the double bound of an acrylate group. The reaction was aided with TCEP/TEA as catalyst. After the reaction, the acrylate group signals disappeared and new signals appeared which I suspected were due to the addition reaction. However, the peaks or signals showed high estimate of protons which I can't account for (x 3 folds more). Please can anyone help me with what possibly could be the cause of this? For a profound answer a reaction equation and also the spectrum itself would be helpful.
A 3X error in peak amplitude is significant. I suspect the peak is mis-assigned. Perhaps its an impurity or from an unanticipated side reaction.
I would obtain a C-13 spectrum before planning the next step.
