I found this plant in the garden of my friend, I am unable to identify it, please help me in identifying this plant. Its flowers is similar to those of Magnolia.
It definitely appears to be Lagunaria petersonia (common name: Norfolk Island Hibiscus). Suggest they are careful with the seedpods as they can cause people severe allergic reactions if they are handled.
Likely to be Lagunaria patersonia (not petersonia), endemic to Lord Howe & Norfolk Islands in the SW Pacific. The other species in the genus is native to Queensland, Australia
I agree, it looks like Lagunaria partersonia, "Pica pica" common name in Spanish, due to the irritating bristles that coate the cavities of the capsule. Be careful when you handle the seeds.
It is Lagunaria patersonii (syn. Hibiscus patersonii) of Malvaceae family. It is commonly known as Primerose tree. It is a species of evergreen tree whose seeds are poisonous.
