It is well recognised that Indian Armed Forces operate in some of the most adverse environmental conditions in the world; Comprehensive logistics management begins with the request for proposal (RFP) for new acquisitions. The RFP should define the sustained capability required for a defined period of time. It should ask the vendors to give technical and commercial proposals for owning and exploiting the same as per the defined usage at a specified level of operational readiness. Thus there can be significant improvement in the proficiency level of logistics operating systems, can bring down the peace time of logistics.
