I prepare artificial sea water (for bacterial culture) by adding salts into MilliQ water. My problem is that after putting the artificial sea water to autoclave there's a precipitate forming. I am not sure which salts are precipitating. Does anyone get the same problem or have an idea on how to avoid this.

to avoid this use the magnetic stirrer with hot plate for 24 hour then autoclave the medium

You should autoclave group II metals (Mg, Ca and Sr chlorides) separately from other salts as they tend to precipitate very easily when combined with various anions. I think you can concentrate this solution 10x (even 20x ?) and add it in a sterile way to the rest of your artificial seawater after both mixtures have been autoclaved. Cheers.
