While I am taking selfie photos, a strange photonic phenomenon appears as shown in the attached photos i.e. the colored circular lights. Please explain this phenomenon which was only feasible via the camera.
I am quite sure that the colored circles are so-called ghost images which follow from the setup (and the used materials) of your camera lens. Here, strayed light reflected at the detctor surface, the surfaces of the lenses or the inner wall of the lens mount can form a further image close to the image plane. The formation of such ghost images may be strongly wavelength-dependent, explaining the color...
Thank you Christoph for your answer. It seems that the appearance of the mentioned 'ghost image' depends on some other factors and conditions because we took several other shots in the same place/time and no such images appeared! (examples are attached) In addition, the same camera did not previously produce such images! (another example is attached). Thank you again.
Dear Mohamed, do the objects preferentially occur when photos are taken with back light (as in your first examples)? If so, this really indicates ghost images which also arise in case of high-quality optics when orientated directly towards the light source...
