Suppose I have a amplitude only reflective SLM. And I need a pattern to be amplitude modulated and displayed in my sample (chicken skin). In such a case I would be loading SLM with my required pattern and then 4F imaging the SLM pattern into my sample . Please correct me if I am wrong.

Like wise suppose I want to use a Phase only SLM. I need to get a projection of random phases on my sample. So initially my SLM needs to be calibrated for the wavelength I work with, which I have done and I have phase shifts corresponding to each gray levels(0-255). And My doubt is suppose I load the phase pattern on SLM based on the gray values and my required phases, should I do the same 4f imaging to get the phase mask on the sample. ? I really can’t understand how it is done. can any one please advice.
