I need to foster my mice and we ordered Black6 but it's not a great strain for breeding purposes as they don't take god care of their pups. I know hybrid strains are supposed to be good breeders. Can anybody suggest a strain they have had good experience with?
In our transgenic Facility, we have been using CD1 from Charles River for many years for fostering purposes. Females are very good mothers. They are an outbred stock, so their genetics is not adequate for most experiments but they can take care of B6 pups.You need to keep a small CD1 colony and mate some pairs at the same time of B6 females, so you can give them B6 pups after parturition or in case of caesarean section.
