Can anyone advise me the literature(s) from which I can identify and discriminate female specimens of the genus Dasyhelea (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) upto species level?
That depends on where your specimens were collected. Let me know the geographic area and I will see if I can track something down for you. More than likely though, you are not going to find one comprehensive source and will have to make your identifications using multiple sources.
Where I would start is with the World Catalog of Ceratopogonidae. Here is a link to the catalog: http://wwx.inhs.illinois.edu/files/4514/6410/0252/CeratopogonidaeCatalog.pdf
I usually start by looking at species described from the area of interest and then work outwards geographically. Two that look promising for you are Mazumdar and Chandhuri 2009 and Sinha and Das Gupta 2010. The full citations are in the catalog. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find copies of these articles, perhaps you may have better luck. Let me know if I can be of any more help.
Thank you for your suggestion. I have Mazumdar and Chaudhuri 2009 but couldn't retrieve Sinha and Dasgupta 2010. Can you tell me how many species you compare to discriminate one as a new? I mean do you stick to a particular zoogeographical realm or stick to the subgenus only?
