Is filter paper applicable for this experiment?
colloid was taken from the natural soil
It depends on what exactly you want to determine with your measurements.What exactly do you want to find out? Colloid size distributions? Composition?
From your question i am not sure what your aim is.
(1) Try DLS it will give the C.V., (2) Electropharisis, (3) SEM and counting.
Do you want to separate the colloids from larger particles of a suspension? In this case, filter paper is not always the best choice. It depends on the quality of your colloids. If you have homogeneous particle density, centrifugation would be advisable. See Zirkler et al. 2012: "Lost in filtration - The separation of soil colloids from larger particles" in the journal Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects.
