Hi! We are working in a Project trying to define standards for training to employment, vocational training for people with disabilities.
We are looking for different standards based on types of disability, and related to Methodology, Resources and Equipment and Infrastructure reviews or articles were welcomed if anybody knows.

looking for a different standard is a contradiction in essence. I assume that when these learners with disabilities are sufficiently trained, the expectation is that the products they create are of the same standard as those produced by others. If that is not the case, I suggest you are in the business of patronisation. To my mind, the standard should be determined through a collaboration between the industry ( the vocation they are being trained to work in), the government and institutions. There really should be no different standard for these learners. If on the other hand your focus is on differentiated outcomes per stage of learning, then you would have to determine that based on the learners you have.

I agree with Gordon to some points. We need to be more clear in conceptualization of the term "standards". When we see it as a very general way of setting up the procedure for the training it could be one for everyone participating in the training process. Although looking to the very specific learning processes (which could be much different for those with intellectual disability and those without) we have to be very precise in building the training curriculum and picking up the teaching tools and procedures which meet the specific learning needs of those individuals.
There for the general standards should be very sensitive to that and allow to consider the individual ways of person acting.
Of course, adaptations must be done for each individual, but the standars refer to procedures defined to make this type adjustments for each one, protocols, and guides about how to proceed. Hi if it is of any help, where I work each leaner has a learning contract which is agreed with their personal tutor. This individual learning plan is then used to monitor their progress and to assist in the delivery of materials as well as ascertain whether additional resources are required.
Obviously each disability can require a different learning response as everyone is an individual. However, frrom experience learners should be assessed very quickly prior to commencement of their chosen course and close links maintained with the learning support teams. Those who require additional input with listening programmes, spelling,numeracy etc should be set targets and given assistance to help them meet short term goals working towards a larger overarching one.
Some of the vocational courses which are offerred at my college enable learners to begin at Entry Level and build up their skill and confidence, some of these are Catering and Hospitality, Health and Care, Floristry and Animal Care. However, I do acknowledge that some disable learners are intelligent and more able than others and there is never a bar to any level of education. In the past I have taught learners with a variety of disabilities and used programmes such as Zoom Text on the computers, learners have one to one classroom support and with the inclusion of technology such as mobile phones, chrome books, etc learners can be encouraged and enabled to evidence understanding and complete assignments in a variety of ways to suit individual needs.

Not a problem. Why not involve learners in the setting of the standards? Sometimes they can surprise us! Furthermore employers like to be considered too. This can help both get the most out of the experience and can lead to incredible things!

When you think about equipment, that sounds like assistive technology would come into play. That would have to be individualized so that the standards would need to be highly generalized, while keeping in mind that a one size fits all approach would be out of the question. I would think that this would pose a challenge in creating standards for a group in which there are so many variables to consider with so much individualization included in the specifications for example.
