If the patient is suffering from Asthma and having borderline lipid profile. So to prevent atherosclerosis like condition, physician can go for the combination of Clopidogrel & Aspirin but as the patient is suffering from Asthma, Aspirin can worsen the condition. So, can anybody suggest me the alternate of this combination (Except clopidogrel alone).
If the patient not have coronary heart disease or atherosclerotic vascular disease the use of antiplatelet therapy is not necessary. The control of lipid level is the conduct.
Clopidogrel is indicated in patioents with recent MI, recent stroke, or established peripheral arterial disease, as well as in cases of stent placements. Cholesterol lowering therapy is the appropriate way to go in prevention of atherosclerosis
I agree with the previous answers, antiplatelet therapy is not necessary in absence of coronary, carotid or peripheral vascular disease. Improvements in life-style behaviour, diet and (in case) statin therapy is preferred
I agree that you don`t need to do both, if there is no coronary,stroke ,carotid or peripheral vascular disease. Change the habits or control the risk factors are the gold standard.
I agree with my colleague Alice. Aspirin should be avoided in asthmatics with a history of aspirin-induced acute bronchospasm per the Clinical Pharmacology website, but aspirin use is not considered to be an absolute contraindication. I don't think this patient needs antiplatelet therapy at this point.
