Can anybody suggest a best protocol for culturing primary cortical neurons from post-natal rat pups?

I have been working on culturing primary cortical and hippocampal neurons and finding difficulty in maintaining them for long term. Have gone through several papers and found different way to isolate and culturing. Can anybody suggest the best protocol to avoid debris and grow them for 21 DIV and help me understand a way to avoid debris and grow pure cultures.
