There are many research papers on study of flows and heat transfer through porous medium. Can anybody have (or links) some basic introductory material on this subject? There are many equations - darcy, brinkmann, forchheimer. I want to know the usage of these equations.
The following review article can give you a good starting point. Though its focus is on non-Newtonian fluids, you can see the usage of the various porous media flows – Darcy, Darcy-Forchheimer, and Brinkman. The derived equations are all valid for Newtonian fluids as a limiting case.

Conjugate heat transfer corresponds with the combination of heat transfer in solids and heat transfer in fluids. In solids, conduction often dominates whereas in fluids, convection usually dominates. Conjugate heat transfer is observed in many situations. For example, heat sinks are optimized to combine heat transfer by conduction in the heat sink with the convection in the surrounding fluid.
