What is the functional significance of thickness of muscularis externa of intestine in broiler chicken. if the thickness is greater then it is good sign for health of broiler or not.
The question is not clear to me: why thickness? And which part of the intestine?
The contractions of the (inner) circular layer of the muscularis externa mixes food components and exocrine enzymes and the outer longitudinal layer ensures peristalsis, moving bowel contents to more distal parts of the intestine.
