I think the question is if there is some sort of scam or predation related to this place. I received a suspicious email entitled "Invitation Letter to Join SVR" from
I am Sampson Harris from Vision Science Research (VSR) Sdn Bhd, Deputy Director of the International Academic Communication Department. VSR is a global scientific research institute located in Malaysia. Currently, we have built the platform for chemical materials, economics, medicine and mathematics. Next, we are expecting more frontier fields. In order to improve the overall layout of the institute, we are now eager to cooperate with our peers in various scientific subjects.
Recommended by the data center, it is known to us that you are an expert in your research fields and have been active in these areas for long time. Vision Science Research sincerely invites you to participate in the study of the topics in your related fields. Please reply this email to indicate your willingness if you are interested in joining us. We are pleased to cooperate with such an excellent scholar like you and I believe our cooperation will be a successful one.
Look forward to hearing from you soon and wish you all the best.
I also received an email and replied to get more info. Their reply is below:
Dear Dr. Soodabeh Saeidnia,
Thank you so much for the reply. Here is the official webpage of Vision Science Research Sdn Bhd: http://vision-science.com/, where you can see more details. Our research is not limited to what you could see on the official website.
In short, we’d like to cooperate with you as follows: you need to provide your ongoing papers or research projects according to the specific situation. We would have further communication and offer research grant if your papers or projects are approved by our evaluation panel. As the focus of our early collaboration is on papers, we only provide funds for research achievements, mainly papers, supposing you provide projects.
Let me know if you have interest in working with us.
I believe there is something wrong with their invitation and website. Even both forms for project and grant application are awkward, nonprofessional and way far from academic applications. The info on their web is useless and the people page shows photos of researchers without affiliation. Better to ignore the emails.
Thank you for this post and for all of the comments. I received the same Email and will ignore it. Interesting that the Email was sent from an account of the name ...
I got this information in my email yesterday. When I checked it, sender's email is not similar with the mentioned website. I recommended to ignore it. Fully scam..
I have receive a same email about one month ago, and I have searched on internet about them. There are two site associate to " vision science research sdn bhd ":
1- http://sciencevision.com.my
2- http://vision-science.com (which I have received email from them)
both are in Malaysia, but teams are different, projects are different and so on.
It seems that the 1st site is ok and the 2nd site is fake.
I also received it. And judging that all of us received this contact in the last 7 days, it doesn't sound an invitation due to our scientific acknowledgment. It sounds like a kind of scam.
I received the same invitation, I have some doubts. However, in the site (Mathematics) of VISION SCIENCE RESEARCH SDN BHD is the professor Stojan Radenovic. May be that he may give us one opinion about VSR.
I received the same email as well. The email address looked fake, as it should most likely have a ".my" ending, if they are surely based in Malaysia (optional, but quite unlikely. Also as is one of @muhammadHadi links). There is another thread on researchgate with the same discussion https://www.researchgate.net/post/Any_experience_with_Vision_Science_Research_VSR_Sdn_Bhd. I would therefore, go with its fake.
I have the same concern about the integrity and honesty of this attempt to sign us/me up. Has anybody actually worked with vision-science.com? I definitely would like to know.
what also strikes me as odd is the fact that everybody who has shared with us an unsolicited message from Vision-Science seems to have been contacted by a different person at this organization. This raises the suspicion that there are just one or two individuals who try to give the impression that Vision-Science is a large organization. Probably not. Probably they are imposters.
There is an ethical problem here. It is difficult to take some collaborators we do not know and get money for this only that they are called coauthors of our papers.
I think they will ask you to add names in your publications. In Malaysia some people are ready to pay to add their names in ISI or Scopus journals so they can get promotion
Thanks Mohammed, this is what I suspected. I am always open to collaborate but co-authorship without contributing to the science content is not acceptable... and it would backfire, I think, on those who try to take advantage.
This matter seems settled already, but just to add, I received this email a couple of days ago, but from Blair Harris, so I think this scam of some kind is doing the rounds again.
Coauthorship in any paper without contribution is like eating without digesting. Yes, sometimes, it would backfire on those who try to take benefits as Dr. Freund said.
I received these e-mails too, more than one. Do you say, it is a fraud ? They insist on having papers to be published by me, but they didn't ask me to add their names.
received a similar mail from these group Vision Science Research Sdn Bhd; seems fishy after reading the above reviews. Many thanks to the co travelers Shukra Raj Paudel Mohammad Ali Asaad Friedemann Freund on this path who cautioned me!!
