the aim of my study is to measure ABA and its metabolites of shurbs from Patagonia Argentina (the shurbs is Larrea divaricata). My problem is that the leaves of this shrubs have a lot of resin formed mainly for NDGA (Nordihydroguaiaretic acid) and this compound form a complex with ABA, which does not allow the extraccion of the hormone for subsequent quantification in LC-MS/MS.
Before the step of extracting of the hormone for its cuantification, I tried washing the leaves to remove the resin and the NDGA, but it turned out the washing solutions used also extracted the hormone.
The solutions tested were NaOH and Chloroform at different concentrations.
Could someone advise me another solution to wash the leaves that do not extract the hormone?
