I have taken more than 5 independent categorical variable and one dependent variabe (Yes/no).
I calculated binary logistic regression and got the Odd Ratio for each independent variable with the dependent variable.
I would appreiciate if you guide me how to calculate AOR through SPSS. Also appriciate if you can provide me the link of any reference paper.
You need in your paper a result Table as follows:
B SE Wald, df, p, Odds Ratio and 95% CI for Odds ratio. Nothing else. You get from SPSS this Table. You do not need adjusted odds ratio.
Hello Pradeep. In some fields (e.g., epidemiology & medical research), it is customary to show a crude (or unadjusted) odds ratio (OR) for the variable of main interest, followed by an adjusted OR for the same variable. If that is what you need to do, perhaps this little example will help. It uses one of the sample datasets that comes with SPSS, and treats Age as the primary explanatory variable. HTH.
* Modify the path below to the folder where the SPSS sample datasets are stored.

* Suppose Age is the primary explanatory variable.
* Enter Age only in block 1, then add variables you wish to adjust for in block 2.

Hi Pradeep Kumar Sahu . Yes, adjusted OR can be thought of as the OR you get when you control / adjust for several variables in the analysis. It's the difference between bivariate analysis (the OR you get when you only have one independent variable), and when you put othere variables in the model as well. In Bruce Weaver example, the OR change from significant p-value for age in the bivarate analysis, to non-significant p-value when you enter other relevant independent variables in the model (multivariate analysis). Hello, The adjusted OR is the Exp Beta that is automatically displayed by SPSS in the Variables in the Equation table. If you need its confidence interval, you just have to ask for the 95%CI for EXP(B) using the Options button.
