I am doing cell cycle for that I am staining MCF-7 cells with Propidium Iodide (PI). I have seen that PI from different companies have got different excitation/ emission wavelengths (Thermo Fisher : 493/636, Invitrogen : 535/617, Sigma: 493/632). Can anybody explain that why the similar fluorochrome has variable excitation/ emission wavelengths? what are the main factors responsible for such phenomenon?
