Yes, there are functionalities available, e.g. in CATIA V5 (from Dassault Systemes): Use the function "Multi-Sections Surface" in the workbench "Generative Shape Design"; see the picture attached.

Similar functions are also available in other CAD software, e.g. PTC Creo, Siemens NX.
