I am looking for surface chemistry of screen printed carbon electrode. I want to know what kind of functional group and charge is available on carbon surface. In addition, I want to introduce functional group like COOH for immobilizing the antiobody.
Which is the best techinque to introduce COOH group on carbon surface? In addition, what kind of washing and blocking buffer are suitable for carbon surface? More over, I am a bit confused about which techinque I should use for capturing antibodies i.e conducting polymer, covalent, SAM layer, while I am using hrp conjugated antibodies for detection.

I am wondering about using Carbon electrodes to create a SAM layer. Have you tried or considered depositing Au electrodes. In my personal experience, Au has more affinity in comparison with other materials. See following work:
