No. As a researcher you need to gather and present evidence. So I challenge anybody to quote even a single example of a predatory journal gone good. Who will force it to change its business plan and ethics?

Farid, really interesting comments from you. I do believe Beall raised an important issue with his campaign against predatory journals but he did not take into consideration the global academic & information inequalities (so called global North-South dilemma) and included even journals that are regarded as reputable in the global south in his list.

Ian, thanks for your contribution. I do know that at a time some regarded Hindawi press as a predatory publisher but it is presently seen as a reputable publisher

Beall's list might not be fully correct but his attempt to list the predatory journals for the first time was definitely praiseworthy.

Of course, some journals are in Beall's list of predatory journals, probably becausevat their inception, proper structures were not put in place for them to merit trustworthiness. However, now, many of these journals have the best structures and rub shoulders with the traditionally recognised good journals. I think Beall's initial work was good. At least, it made journals sit up and they improved their services, agreeing with the robustness we desire to see in the development of Science. I suggest that a total overhaul of the list must be done today to upgrade the list.

I agree with Dickson. Most of us who have experience in publishing papers can now recognise the fake journals.
