In a thermal oil pipe line, I want to measure the flow rate of the oil. Can I place my oval gear flow meter just before the pump? I assume that after the pump, due to turbulence, flow rate readings have a chance to fluctuate (please correct me here if I am wrong). Also, it is a semi-closed circuit, and the expansion tank (deaerator tank) has been placed before the pump where the pressure is atmospheric. What is the best location for the flow meter to read the actual flow rate of the oil?
