I have calcined eggshell at various temperatures ranging from 700-1100 c (calcination time 2 hrs). At 700 c, can see grey particles in the calcined samples. To double check with calcium carbonate, I calcined commercial calcium carbonate at 700 C and there was no such color change. I calcined eggshell at 600 C and all the particles were dark grey more blackish. What could be the possible reasons for this? I can predict the calcium carbonate could not convert to calcium oxide but why there is no color change in case of commercial calcium carbonate.
