“Having no time” has become the ultimate modern-day status symbol We have the fastest means of transport, smartest gadgets of electronics, swift ways of communication, and so on. Even then there is lack of time. I wonder why?
The speed of change in today's world forces us to do our work faster. In fact, it is an inner sense. We just want to get things done faster to get to the next work, which makes us unable to do some of our works. In fact, this inner sense is the product of our contemporary multilateral thinking, work and life. I think, instead of involving with all the changes (such as technological changes, etc.) in all aspects of life, we must use them to develop our own field of expertise. Then, with the peace of mind, we will develop the knowledge of our field and serve the international community.
As a result of the development, technology and modern business that is taking place with our lives, there is no time, nor is there any division of time within these developments.
The so called "hurry sickness" has been caused by increasing prevalence of technology like cell phones, pagers, and laptop computers. We can bring work at , into our bedrooms and even on our vacations. Time has sped up and there is more pressure in the same number of hours.
May be we have lack of strategies to accomplished our goal . when we have uncertainties and unplanned work it take usually more time than planned task.
we are working overtime because of some financial instabilities.
we may indulge in other useless tasks which have no reason to do it.
we are pretending to be busy and workaholic because society perceive it more expert and skillful.
it may because we have different priorities for different person.
I agree with the terminology "modern day status symbol" to denote being busy. When you come to think of it many people are staging this show of being busy for an imaginary audience. With proper time management and prioritization this self-created crisis can be solved easily. Maybe some want to hide under the cloak of being busy, some are addicted to it, while some others are genuinely busy (for example a single mother taking care of children and having to work 3 jobs to make ends meet.)
It is very true Reza Biria , Maha Sami ! Modern gadgets when they invade bedrooms and vocations, they invade our peace in our family under the pretext of being busy!
Yes I agree with Srini Vasan ! There are some genuine people who are really busy! Your example - a single mother taking care of children and having to work 3 jobs to make ends meet, is an eye-opener!
