We fail often in life! But failure is not complete defeat. When we fail, we learn. When we fail, we grow and mature, achieving new understandings and perspectives on life, business, money, relationships, and people. Oh! I wish if only we could understand that failure can really make us not merely break us........!

It is far better to learn from the others' mistakes instead of our own, which are usually to expensive lessons. In management perspective the failure is also a lesson, which can contribute as an example. There were few companies which I worked and faced critical moments. I always remind myself these as cold shower to wake up and go out of comfort zone to prevent some mistakes in future.
I fail all the time. I define failure as not achieving optimal results.
I am starting up a company, Chicago Quantum, and each step has failures in it. Poor initial website draft, first target hire skillsets may be sub-optimal, overly broad service offering list, poor initial elevator pitch, insufficient networking, and the list goes on. In working for large firms, my biggest failures were in mis-reading situations (thinking there was no failure when there was). Asking for feedback often helps identify failures so they can be acted upon. For a specific answer, I wanted to launch a consulting offering around ServiceNow, but my managers and peers said no. It was the best things to do, but I did not do it. I regret not taking that risk, and breaking that glass.
Some fails take years to understand. Others I 'get' quickly (thank goodness for that).
An example, I failed last night in not finding an agreeable restaurant for my step-daughters. I tried, but could not identify one that met multiple requirements in the time allowed before driving home from the store. From that failure, I learned much information about how my family feel and think about my behavior. Invaluable data that I should act upon.
Every offering that does not sell gets edited, every video can be re-recorded, and every sales pitch that fails gets a re-look. If we don't try, we won't succeed.
Failure does not mean lack of popularity or 'getting along' but truly sub-optimal behavior.

When I was young I was given my first horse - a very showy grey part Arabian - by far the most sticking in the village. So I rode down to a local meeting where other children were mounted on ponies. They asked me if my horse could jump to which I replied of course . To which they put up a bar which they kept raising, and I kept sailing over it. But my new horse was clever, he knew I was showing off and he'd had enough so as we went over the jump, on landing he let down one shoulder and I sailed over his head. You can imagine how red my face was - but I learnt a lesson which to this day I have never forgotten - humility, modesty and appreciation and recognition of the intelligence of animals. Also not to brag and be more discrete. Our teachers take many shapes and forms!!!!

Failure is a springboard to higher level thoughts. Each failed attempt is an opportunity to reassess options and to examine more definitive approaches. I am getting used to developing better road maps and technical competences from failure. Do remember that it takes courage to remain focused after a failed attempt at any endeavor. Once you overcome this initial barrier, you are most likely to land on firmer grounds upon where you can relaunch yourself towards success.
