Please read the attached source paper for experimental and modeling procedure.

Please read chapter 10 in The Finite Element Method and Applications in Engineering Using ANSYS . Attached pages are very important examples to write code in ANSYS to get the output curves...

Please switch the output to file (not screen) and read slowly the output file to find your errors and try to repair (attached Switch Output.pdf guides you to how to do in ANSYS)

insert the imperfections using ANSYS code (images 300000 and 500000) ... use he Finite Element Method and Applications in Engineering Using ANSYS to write your own code in file Podder.txt . In ANSYS, File .... read input from file ..... and choose Podder.txt

follow these steps

1- get the nodes number in the base (or top) of your model

2-get the id of these nodes

repeat the steps (3-5) for every substep in every load step in your model

3-make loop over these nodes and read the reaction force in z direction for every node and make a summation for all the base joints.

4-read the Z-displacement at any point in the top

5-write the Sum Fz and Z-displacement in txt file on your PC

6-Draw the curve

Note that you need to write your own code (summReac.txt) for steps 3-5 and use File .... read input from file ..... and choose (summReac.txt). or copy and past your code in the top txt box in ANSYS.

Pls read the nonlinear analysis in Ansys Manual and FEM textbox because you are doing sophisticated nonlinear analysis

Dear Ahmed M. El-Kholy , Thanks for your elaborate answer. We will follow the steps to draw the load shortening curve as you suggested. For picture detach 500, how much magnification (imperfection amplitude) is applied? Because in our case (.001) it is hardly visible. What about this other figure (detach 300)? Is it the final buckled shape?
