And yet in Britain he seems unstoppable. Every Tory will come behind him as they fear oblivion at the hands of Farage or Corbyn.
Labour voters think he is 'fun' and may vote for him. Remember he defeated Ken Livingston for Mayor of London when he had a 20% lead.

I will give the first word to Chris Patten leading Tory and the last UK governor of Hong Kong (ie not a radical). He says:
Chris Patten described the favourite to become Britain’s next prime minister as “Trump’s poodle: a liar who does not pay attention to the detail of reality, tells people what they want to hear and relies on their ignorance”.
Patten said Johnson exemplified the “collapse of rationality, of the relationship between the facts and what we believe” in present-day politics. “What he is offering is impossible.”
Mr. Munck, I would expect Britain Parlamentarians to be much more cautious, prudent and rational than the American voters...But in the funest case Mr.Jhonson could reach Downing Street, I think he will be in line with Trumpism, specially some kind of far-right populism... Western democracy is progressive failing in this way...
Boris won the first round. That may be very good news. A leadership favourite has never won before... Germany's press has yesterday reported correctly for the first time! My bet is Jeremy Hunt...
