I feel fortunate to be invited by a prestigious journal in my field to write a regular blog for the journal's online social media companion. I am having difficulty in making this transition from a pure research writer to a blogger. Thoughts?
As I started to write my very first blog for this new series, my first impression is that blogs are easier to write than research articles. It is much more like a letter to a friend. I miss the time when I used to write letters to friends and family. A lot more thought went into them. Now, with social media etc., the age of formal letters seems like a dream.
A blog is a social platform for sharing thoughts and news whereas research is a process of conducting scientific work (fact-finding task). Of course, you may use any of your research in your blog for your fans to see and read but that may not make it a research in itself. Research papers go through reviews and comments from reviewers are important unlike in blogging. Gulzar Shah

Being a research blogger means popularizing science. Use more plain language to explain even difficult staff for the common public. Drop out too complicated details. Only explain the crucial things, don't go into too much specialized details. I think, that's the key factors...
