I would like to ask about your experience with the instrument (Bio Rad CFX96 Touch Real time PCR System) and its performance.
Also I would like to know if this version need calibration before its first installation or not.
We are offered such machine and we are looking for technical advice before the decision of purchasing.

I cannot speak to the need of calibration as I was not there when it was installed, but I used one through the course of my Ph.D. and it worked very well. It can run one 96 well plate at a time. So this is a limitation if you are wanting to run more samples. The software that it uses is extremely easy to use.
In my experience, this instrument is user friendly. Regarding calibration, this is done by the vendor. To ensure a successful calibration, it is possible to run negative and positive controls. Hope the answer helps
Hi Omer Adam ! CFX96 touch is good. I use it for allelic discrimination (SNP's and mutations) and for gene expression analysis for many years (before I used previous model CFX96).
Software is quite comfortable.
This is fast and stable machine. Once it saved run and continue data collection after emergent switch off button press. We interrupt run for 5' with switch off instrument.
Gradient - I think that is a very important thing - ok
It in not necessary to calibrate the machine.

Easy qPCR machine to use, the software is really good I think, easy to use, and have nice features. I personally find these machine much easier to run than the ABI ones for examples. You can change the blocks for the qPCR and PCR which actually make versatile if you have multiple biorad machine. You can install the software on multiple computers without any issues.
You do not need to do a calibration, it is done in the factory.
The biorad consumables are quite expensive I would say, but you can use any consumables on this machine (for plates, seal, qPCR mix...).
I preferred the CFX384 to the CFX96, but this depends of your needs and the number of samples you need to analyse in a run. Comparison across run is always difficult, although it depends again what you do.
Hi Omer, I agree with the above comments that the CFX96 is a reliable instrument. I highly recommend to get the calibration performed by Biorad tech rep. The software is very easy to use and comes in both windows and apple mac os version. best-A
