Bioeconomy vs. anthropogenic economics have been discussed and analyze for the past few decades. Do the biophysical principles, the bioeconomic functions of living systems provide answers as to design a sustainable anthropogenic economic principle? Is humanity ready for a major behavior adjustment as to preserve life on Earth? What about food production and Earth potential? The human’s birth rate? The general education? Human rights principle? How are those elements integrate in the bioeconomic principles?

Adrian, I am looking at the present anthropogenic concept of as an organism and our activities and mindset making-up the organism. The call for the shift in paradigm is inevitable. True enough the call to change has begun. The change has taken place but the waves of change is simply not aggressive. What i see is that for the past at least 40 years, the bio based approach had sparked off, which means that humanity has begun to intervene in the anthropogenic process. Nevertheless, as the change has indeed sparked in areas such as sustainability, the snowball of a bio-centric approach has begun to roll and is gathering. As the anthropogenic is continuously agitated as what that is being done by many bio advocates, activists and protagonists, there will be a time when the system has been disturbed so severely that other areas of the system will eventually adapt to the bio approach. But this is a natural and evolutionary approach and it may be simply too late for mankind question. As you have asked a question that reflects a comprehensive change, I think bio-economy will have to run parallel to anthropogenic economy. However to gain further momentum and speed up the evolution of it, mankind must be shown the benefits of adapting to this new system. Not only can cost be a factor of hindrance, it will be a challenge to overcome the ego-centric human. For this type of person, what matters in benefit and this may be one of the greatest challenge. I am quite sure we have less socio-altruistic and eco-centric people with reference to bio-based principles of life.

thank you for your post, very well written. Sure, one think I'll point out, bioeconomic principles can be implemented as running parallel to the existing anthropogenic economy. showing the benefits, convincing the masses, especially the financial powers.
The sustainability concept has to be understood by the financial and political powers (often being the same) as the only way to hold the very wanted, desirable power.

I'm very interested in work of Georgescu-Roegen, that wrote great things in the 70s.
An interesting paper wrote by Gail Whiteman with others that uses the Planetary Boundaries (Rockstrom at al, 2009) as a basis for corporate activity for sustainability.
I would like to ask: what is your focus? Global economcy? Nations? Sectors? Companies?
