Does anybody have any experience with evaporation of organic materials, and the most suitable type of QCM for thickness control? I'm getting very low repeatability in growth rate, and I'm wondering if my QCM is actually sensitive enough.
PS: The exact density of my material is not known.

My experience is to use a QCM 100 hz with gold coating type. For unknown organic materials, you either work out density by yourself or just input 1 to calibrate the film thickness by doing multiple evaporation with various thickness. So you can measure the real thickness using a profiler instrument. Then you should get the ratio of the reading thickness to measured thickness. I believe you may already know this.
Bear in mind that repeatibily of evaporated thickness also relies on other factors such as the usage of a crystal microsensor and geometry of the evaporator.

Thanks for the answer. I've been trying to keep all the parameters constant. I have also been using 1 g/cm3 as an estimate for the density. I still get low repeatability in final thickness. That's why I'm trying to see if my QCM is any good for organics. I'm just using a generic one now.
