I am trying to measure the growth of Oedogonium at a 7-day interval for 1 month and I would like to find out the best method to use. I want to use either chlorophyll analysis, optical density or Fresh weight and Dry weight.
If I am to use Chlorophyll analysis or Optical density, do I need to measure out a known weight for extraction of chlorophyll or for OD measurement?
Well, one can measure growth rate by using all three methods but I don't suggest going for the OD method because if your algal cells secrete some EPS this might hinder the OD.
