What are the best sources for finding contacts for Corporate Venture Capital investors? I have found most commercial databases tend to keep data on venture capital and private equity investors.
Private equity firms can buy companies from any industry, while venture capital firms are limited to startups in the technology, biotechnology, and clean technology. Private equity firms also use both cash and debt in their investment, but venture capital firms deal with equity only.
I think the best sources for finding contacts for Corporate VC investors are the following:
The first: Business incubators generally focus on the high-tech sector by providing support for new businesses in various stages of development.
The second: Angels are generally wealthy individuals or retired company executives who invest directly in small firms owned by others. They are often leaders in their own field who not only contribute their experience and network of contacts but also their technical and/or management knowledge.
Thank you Mousumi Bhattacharya! Excellent recommendation, but it appears that an annual license costs around $100K. Do you know if they provide academic access? Thank you
