The benzothiazine derivatives that I am working on is methyl-4-hydroxy-2H-1,2-benzothiazine-3- carboxylate. I want to know in which solvents it is soluble so that I can set up a mobile phase for tlc for it. It has shown a very low solubility in ethanol.
@César Canciam thank you for the recommendation. Actually I m trying to react benzothiazine ester derivative with acyl hydrazine to form diacyl hydrazine. The hydrozonolysis typically involves reflux in ethanol. However, I have noticed due to low solubility of benzothiazine in ethanol the reaction is not proceeding well.
To improve the solubility of methyl-4-hydroxy-2H-1,2-benzothiazine-3-carboxylate for TLC analysis, consider testing polar aprotic solvents like DMSO or acetone, as well as chlorinated solvents like chloroform or dichloromethane, as they may offer better dissolution compared to the low solubility observed in ethanol.
