Bandgap Calculation from UV-Vis spectra data I have UV-Vis spectra of perovskite thin-film on glass substrate and need to calculate the bandgap. Can someone give me info on how to go about this?
Please use the Tauc Equation and drop a tangential line (in accordance with the Tauc Equation) to intersect the X-axis and read off the optical band gap value.
I agree with Ali Zahid. You can get the TAUC PLOT template online on youtube for ease of calculations.
I've also seen in some places where bandgap is calculated from the equation
1254/wavelength of minimum absorption.
The wavelength can be gotten by drawing a tangential line to your UV/Vis spectra . For instance, a quick estimate based on the uploaded spectra would give your wavelength of minimum absorption to be ca 700 nm.
Normally, we're using the Tauc Equation by droping a tangential line (in accordance with the Tauc Equation) to intersect the X-axis and reading off the optical band gap value.
