Data are presented in many ways. Sometimes it is advantageous to show the frequency of occurrence as well as values. In some cases this will cause a pattern to practically jump out at you. One of the many applications where I have found this representation helpful is in analyzing operational data from combined cycle power plants. I have attached one such graph. At this time only a few programs will draw such a plot, TP2 being one of these. The data points (black specks) are easy enough to display. The colors can be obtained with kriging, inverse distance interpolation, or solving Laplace's equation.
