Can ferritic/martensitic Cr steels exhibit a bainitic microstructure? If yes, why are they called f/m? If no, how is the formation of bainite suppressed?
Hi Frank. I think it is high probable to observe bainite in F/M steel, since bainite is a transition phase between ferrite and martensite depending on the cooling rate. Introducing bainite may give F/M steel better room temperature mechcanical properties. Just my opinion.

We can discuss it longer but I already observed bainitic structure in 9Cr F/M ODS steel (I think I have the EBSD map somewhere but this was not published). There are some CCT diagrams available, depending on the grade.

Related to your observation of bainite in 9Cr F/M ODS steel, how (on the basis of which feature) did you distinguish the mentioned bainitic microstructure from a martensitic microstructure? I am also interested in available CCT diagrams, if you have references or copies.
