Gram-negative bacterium Gluconacetobacter xylinus (conventionally known as Acetobacter xylinum is commonly used for production of bacterial cellulose (Nata de coco). This bacteria can be cultured in coconut water.

Bacterial cellulose is a type of nano-polymer produced by Gram-negative bacteria (e.g., Komagataeibacter xylinus, Komagataeibacter intermedius, Agrobacterium, Azotobacter, and Achromobacter spp.) and Gram-positive bacteria (e.g., Komagataeibacter hansenii).

In my research, I use Komagataeibacter intermedius to produce cellulose.

But we have faced a problem while selecting "bacterial strain". As I'm a student of Materials Science and Engineering, I have not enough knowledge about bacterial strain.

Which bacteril's strain will be suitable for the growing of bacterial cellulose. Also noted that our lab hasn’t those strain which will be perfect for production of bacterial cellulose. If it has easy way to culture those strain? If you know that, can you share me that?

First, you must determine what kind of experiment your bacterial cellulose will be used in. After all, you need to know that many journals have been published in the field of bacterial cellulose, and you must consider the novelty issue.

It is recommended that you search for the health management unit in your country and ask if there is a unit that specializes in selling or storing strains. Taking Taiwan as an example, we have the Bioresource Collection and Research Center, which sells strains that can produce bacterial cellulose.

Maybe you can ask if they can ship to Bangladesh.

Now am doing on bacterial cellulose but I have a question about when cellulose production stop in the liquid broth after inoculation of bacteria.

Mahfuj Ahmed There are many bacterial strains, which produce cellulose and you either have to select the strain or you have to focus on bacterial cellulose. As far as I understand, you have not specified the strain to work with, instead you need any sort of strain to produce bacterial cellulose.
