Hello fellow researchers.I have an nbc based cermet with nickel binder i am trying to do grain analysis and binder mean free path analysis.I grinded and polished the cermet to 1um via diamond paste.optical microscopy showed good distinct binder and carbide distribution.but on BSe mode a very unusual image is seen. The operator determined its some kind of debris on the surface. The samples were gold sputtered.the samples were also cleaned in mixed metanol/ethanol solution and water before dispatch.I am unable to determine even the phases and looks like debris to me..Can it be a sem issue wrt the beam voltage or something?SEM used was nanosem in bse mode.please find attached images..bse should have shown grain morphology and binder distribution but i cant make any guess from this
