Usually, you can find this information in EPA websites or local EPA agent.

Check the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRDGC) website, they published monthly reports for influent, operating, and effluent data for all MWRDGC facilities.

I used their data in some of my studies, and the data are relatively complete and comprehensive.

Charles Amarachi Ogbu This will depend on African states publishing that data. It can be difficult for intra-government data exchange, never mind publishing as open source. South Africa has probably made available the most, and if you look through the various PhD theses from RSA you should find much of what you are looking for. For other countries, not so much - if you know of a source, please share.

For the EU at a high level you can get information, as this is published as part of the WFD / UWWTD compliance statistics - but you typically get average flow, and yes / no compliance rather than information on loads / effluent quality.

@Jeremy Dudley I'm actually working WWTP on Africa, emphasis on Nigeria. Still in the conceptualisation stages. I still don't have much information on how to get the database you described, either.

Any recommendations will surely go a long way.

For South Africa, try locating the e-thesis library for the various universities: UCT and KwaZulu seem to publish the most in this field; Stellenbosch in the wider water industry area. You can find valuable material in Water SA, now free online, and including a paper on wastewater characterisation; may help a little.

For Nigeria: truly good luck. If you find anything, please do share. You may be better off seeing if any of the consulting engineers - many small outfits in Lagos - will help share data. Assuming, of course, that they do have any!
