I think that most of us heard about Thomson Reuter's suspending the Impact Factor of 51 journals due to “anomalous citation patterns”. I'm wondering if you have ever experienced, or heard about something similar between authors. Like "Hey, i'm writing an article, your paper X is relevant, i will cite it IF you will cite one of my previous articles in one of your future papers (if the topic is appropriate)." What are your opinions about this kind of arrangement?
