We collected another unknown Asteraceae in southern Kazakhstan west of Almaty in the Kaskelen valley of the Zailijskij Alatau Mts at about 1200 m a.s.l. together with a Cynareae species (see another question). The habitat was also steppe scrub. There were some suggestions in the field such as Inula macrophylla but I do not believe that the field identification was correct. At least the indument is very sparse. The leaf is about 60 cm long. Once again, field experience is required for identification of such sterile ¨gatherings.

Of course, it is difficult. That is the reason for posting the photographs here. There were only leaves at the site, i.e. a vegetation plot. Otherwise I would have collected also the generative parts and identified it myself. Unfortunately, all plants from a vegetation plot shoul be identified, also those without flowers and fruits, which makes such research rather difficult in far from someone's domicile.
