The new areas of renewable energy systems include Green hydrogen production, utilization and storage. The project scope lies in the storage materials for hydrogen tank, cogeneration from fuel cell heat, hydrogen as Energy storage for microgrid etc. Also Bifacial Solar PVs and Floating solar PVs are getting interest from researchers. You can also do hybrid system optimisation using HOMER software where you can do techno-economic analysis of a system.

The main issues created due to the integration of non synchronous energy sources ( Renewable energy sources) to the grid are:
1) Reduction of total inertia in the system leading to the deployment of inertia virtually in the system through energy storage systems. ( Virtual inertia synthesis and control).
2) Behaviour of wind and solar units during a fault - thereby researching upon and utilising the LVRT ability of wind parks and solar inverters to strengthen the stability of the system.
